Meteorological Data Policies Needed to Support Biodiversity Monitoring with Weather Radar

Abstract Weather radar networks have great potential for continuous and long-term monitoring of aerial biodiversity birds, bats, insects. Biological data from weather radars can support ecological research, inform conservation policy development implementation, increase the public’s interest in natural phenomena such as migration. are already used to study animal migration, quantify changes populations, reduce conflicts between birds aircraft. Yet efforts establish a framework broad utilization operational at risk without suitable policies infrastructure place. In Europe, communities meteorologists ecologists made joint toward sharing standardizing continent-wide data. These now new meteorological exchange render useless monitoring. several other parts world, not even available research.
